July 21, 2012: Sacramento Assisted Living CiminoCare Serves as Industry Presenters at the CALA Annual Spring Conference

Citrus Heights, CA (PRWEB) July 21, 2012

CiminoCare, a family-owned and–operated endeavor that operates nine residential care facilities for the elderly in the Sacramento and San Mateo areas, recently presented at the 2012 California Assisted Living Association Spring Conference with the head of Medi-Cal’s Assisted Living Waiver (ALW) program and other experts. The annual conference, held this year at the Hyatt Regency Convention Center in Santa Clara from June 4 to June 6, is where industry leaders of assisted living facilities come and exchange best practices and receive continuing education units.

“We are grateful that the CiminoCare team put together a strong panel and provided a comprehensive presentation on this important topic,” CALA president Sally Michael said. “They were willing to share their experiences, and attendees walked away with a greater understanding of the Assisted Living Waiver.”

The Assisted Living Waiver (ALW), as defined by the California Department of Health Care Services, is the Medi-Cal program that provides for assisted living, care coordination and other specified benefits provided to eligible seniors and persons with disabilities who currently reside in Sacramento, San Joaquin, Fresno, Sonoma, San Bernardino, Riverside and Los Angeles counties.

“The Medi-Cal Assisted Living Waiver is a new emerging program that could potentially save the state of California up to $1 billion in the long run and improve the quality of life for the residents of California by giving them more options than just a skilled nursing facility/nursing home and help support local economies by keeping assisted living communities full,” Mark Cimino, CEO of CiminoCare, said.

About 450 participants in the conference were able to listen to the presentations given by Bernie Finneran, director of the Medi-Cal ALW; Mark Smith, director of Always Best Case Management; Mark Cimino, CEO of CiminoCare; and Lance Mishleau, corporate marketing director of CiminoCare.

The mission of CiminoCare is to “responsibly operate senior living facilities, inspiring the heart, mind and soul to provide quality care; to connect with those we serve; and to be leaders in our community and industry.”

Lance Mishleau of CiminoCare said, “having the opportunity to present at a premier industry event helps to support our vision by being leaders in our community and industry.”
