CiminoCare celebrates Older Americans Month

Celebrating Older Americans Month

May is Older Americans Month — and at CiminoCare, we think that’s worth celebrating all year.

Every May, communities across the nation pause to recognize the older adults who have shaped our families, our neighborhoods, and our country. This year’s theme, “Powered by Connection,” reminds us that staying engaged, valued, and loved isn’t just good for the spirit — it’s essential for health and well-being at every stage of life.

At CiminoCare, we believe that message every single day — not just in May.

More Than a Month — A Mission

Older Americans Month was established in 1963, when President John F. Kennedy designated May as a time to honor the contributions of older citizens. More than six decades later, that spirit of recognition is more important than ever.

The older adults in our care have lived through extraordinary times. They’ve raised families, built careers, weathered hardship, and carried wisdom that no textbook can teach. They deserve not just respect, but genuine connection — the kind that comes from being truly seen and heard.

Wilma Cimino ensured that this is embedded in the foundation of everything we do at CiminoCare. We call it “old world hospitality”

The Power of Connection

Research consistently shows that social connection is one of the strongest predictors of health and longevity in older adults. Loneliness and isolation can be as harmful as smoking or a sedentary lifestyle — and yet, it’s one of the most overlooked challenges facing seniors today.

At CiminoCare, connection isn’t an afterthought. It’s woven into our daily routines:

  • Meaningful conversations with caregivers who take the time to listen
  • Community activities that bring residents and families together
  • Personalized care that honors each person’s story, preferences, and personality
  • Family engagement that keeps loved ones close, even across distance

We don’t just provide care — we create a home where people belong.

A Thank-You to Our Residents and Their Families

To every older adult in our CiminoCare family: thank you. Thank you for your resilience, your humor, your stories, and your trust. You inspire us every day to show up with our whole hearts.

And to the families who entrust us with the people they love most — we don’t take that lightly. It is the greatest honor of our work.
