After decades of caring for seniors as an avocation, Wilma and John Cimino, with the support of their family, opened a residential care community in Burlingame in 1988.
Wilma, who had worked in-home care since 1973, had a strong reputation as a compassionate caregiver. The care home was quickly filled, and the Cimino family began making plans to serve more seniors. By 1996, two more senior care communities were constructed and opened in the Burlingame area. In 1998, CiminoCare began servicing the Sacramento area with the acquisition of a senior care center in the Arden Park region, followed by the construction of a community in Citrus Heights in 2000. In 2008, CiminoCare branched into the Central Valley, acquiring a community in Lodi.
Currently, CiminoCare operates a total of ten Senior Living Communities in Northern California and provides in-home care services in both the San Mateo and Sacramento, CA regions.
Wilma continues with an active presence in the Burlingame communities, visiting with residents and leading activities, while management has transitioned to the second generation of the Cimino family.
Mark Cimino, based in Sacramento, serves as the CEO of CiminoCare and MaryAnn Cimino Shinn serves as the Regional Director for the Burlingame Area.
The Cimino family remains proud of their humble beginnings, which emphasize the importance of accessible, personable and professional care, the heart of the CiminoCare philosophy.
